UPCOMING SAILING

Spring Break 2027 aboard Legend of the Seas

Spring Break is taking us somewhere completely new—not necessarily because of the destinations, but because of the ship itself. We’re sailing on Legend of the Seas, and for the first time, our family is going to experience what cruising on a true mega-ship is all about.

Our First Mega-Ship Adventure

Most of the time when we choose a cruise, the itinerary plays a huge role in our decision.

This one is a little different.

For Spring Break, we're going to be sailing aboard Legend of the Seas, and we're genuinely excited because this will be our family's first experience on one of Royal Caribbean's massive new ships.

We've cruised with Royal Caribbean before, but our experiences have been complicated. We've had some really good moments—and a couple of endings we'd rather forget.

Still, we've always said something important:

Sometimes you aren't really choosing a cruise line. You're choosing a ship.

And we've never experienced Royal Caribbean the way millions of people seem to love it: on one of their enormous, attraction-packed ships.

This is finally our chance.

We Want to See What the Hype Is About

We're used to ships where the cruise itself is relatively simple.

Eat.

Swim.

Relax.

Explore the ports.

Maybe see a show.

Then eat again.

Legend is supposed to be an entirely different experience.

For the first time, we're choosing a cruise where the ship itself could potentially be as much of the vacation as the destinations we're visiting.

We're especially interested to see how that works for Ollie.

Will he love having so many things to do?

Will we spend more time exploring the ship than we normally do?

Or will we somehow end up doing exactly what we always do—finding our favorite few places and returning to them every day?

We're about to find out.

Please Give Us Some Great Entertainment

One thing we're especially hoping for is great entertainment.

That's probably the biggest area where some of our recent cruises have left us wanting more.

We love relaxing. We love sitting down for a good dinner. We love listening to live music.

But sometimes we also want to finish dinner and have something we're genuinely excited to go see.

With a ship this large and this focused on entertainment, our expectations are definitely higher.

We want great live music.

We want things Ollie gets excited about.

And we'd love to have the opposite problem from some previous cruises—too many things we want to see and not enough time to see them all.

Can a Mega-Ship Change Our Opinion of Royal Caribbean?

That's one of the questions I'm most interested in answering.

We've sailed Royal Caribbean twice before, and neither experience has been enough for us to decide exactly where the cruise line fits for our family.

But we've also never sailed Royal Caribbean like this.

Maybe a mega-ship will be too busy for us.

Maybe we'll decide we still prefer the relaxed atmosphere of Celebrity or the flexibility we've always enjoyed with Norwegian.

Or maybe we'll get off Legend and wonder why it took us so long to try one.

That's what makes this cruise exciting.

We don't know.

And those are usually the trips that give us the best stories.

Spring Break can't get here soon enough.
